Description
On the evening of Monday, December 9, 2024, the Franklin Fire broke out in the areas immediately surrounding Pepperdine’s Malibu campus. In the hours and days that followed, the fire began to directly impact our campus community—especially our students. We are grateful for God’s divine protection over our campus and the unwavering leadership of our Emergency Operations Committee, faculty/staff, and our first responders in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. However, the lingering effects of this disaster extend beyond the physical safety of our community, and many students are facing unforeseen financial burdens in the wake of the fire.
In response to the challenges faced by our students due to the Franklin Fire in Malibu, Pepperdine has established a fund to provide immediate financial assistance to those impacted by the crisis. Your generosity will alleviate students’ immediate financial burdens and offer a lifeline to help them focus on recovery and completing the semester during this difficult time.
Funds will assist the University in shipping students items left behind due to the fire, including passports, prescriptions, and other important items. The fund will also support the University’s efforts to provide transportation to the airport and other transportation hubs.
